The last ssm post I see is from 7/31. (Yes, I still lurk at times.)

Has anyone tried to post? Is there some glitch in my newsguy feed or has ssm really died.

    Charleston sniggler pictures
From the beach trip a few years ago, a few pictures, for what they're worth. A big old tree, a couple of snigglers, a beach house view, the Coburg Cow.

    Trisha Roberts-Miller
Found Trisha Roberts-Miller on Facebook, actually she found me :-) Wondered where all the snigglers were. Told her most were here on Livejournal.

Whenever I hear her/jammer's name I get a flash back to Deb & Mikes wedding when many of us were in the hotel waiting for pizza to be delivered and their son ( Jake??) was channel surfing and passed by the sports channels and stopped on what looked like the playboy channel, with the wide eye'd look of an innocent little kid, and jammer slowly raising out of his seat to get the remote and change the channel. I'm sure it was quicker than that, but it seemed like slow motion. It was priceless none-the-less :-) Forgot exactly who said what afterwards ( something about his kid because he skipped the sports channel and stopped on the porn channel ), but it brought quite a bit of laughter. Couldn't have been a better end to a most perfect day.

BTW... I still have the dancing gopher :-)

    Surprise Sniggler
lorres's loss (missed connection at National Airport) was my gain: house guest! We didn't have long (Metro pick-up/drop-off 11:45pm/7:23 am), but we did manage to squeeze in a short art/cards tour of my place. I was glad I had comfort food (deli ready-to-eat mac and cheese) on hand for her midnight snack, as well as clean sheets and towels for the guest room.

    It's official
Ahhhh....No..... Wanda & I aren't getting married.... She has been officially accepted to Nursing School!! And starts in the Fall. We're were going to try the 3 yr plan, however after she talked to her advisor we're doing the 2 year plan, because if she didn't there was a real chance that she would have had to re-apply and might not have been accepted the 2nd time around. Well it looks like our "boinking" may slow down quite a bit the next couple of years as we get her through school.

That will be good asby then I'll only have 5 yrs till retirement from Cornell. Have to be 55 & have 20 yrs of employment. I will have 20 Yrs on Aug 18th. Who would have thunk it that I'd be one place 20 yrs,

    A Typical Day
As I type this I'm providing support for a Video conference with Weill Medical Center in NY and the topic of discussion is imaging in Prostate Research, Complete with high res photos.

It's pretty neat from a layman's point of view.

Even more frighting is that I understand about 75% of what they're talking about( 25% medical,50% imaging)

Maybe it's time for a career change to the medical research field..............Naaaaaaaaaaa.

    Whatta weekend
So much for those lazy days of summer :-)

Oh Wait....it's not summer yet :-(

Wanda says "I need Dirt" and so through a various set of processes we determine how much. Next item is where to get it. Buddy of mine calls and is also looking for dirt. Well his neighbor is removing a lot of dirt from a hillside just up the road from me, so I have him go ask, sure enough we have have a couple of loads.

Well we hooked up my trailer and loaded up about 9 wheel barrows loads for him ( counted as we unloaded ) then we did about the same amount for me, and just got it home and covered before it started to rain, so now I have to unload it into the garden. I'm sore.

Sunday was a lazy day, spent the day on the river counting canoes for the Cortland YMCA Canoe Classic. 114 in all. Get home, and Wanda is getting ready for work, and "reminds me" I still need to get the mower ready. So I do the PM on the mower, not liking the sounds of the engine, sounds like it may throw a rod soon, hope not, 50" cut mowers are not cheap, better start looking on Craigs List. Removed the mower deck, lost a piviot pin in the process, found later, not looking forward to purchasing another one. Wrench slipped while changing blades, across my knuckles.....Didn't hurt...bled like heck, went through about 6 layers of skin across the knuckles on my right hand. Wanted to do a superman and throw the mower deck across the lawn...Didn't...42" mower decks are hard to find for this mower, nor are they light. Where's an EMT when you need one...Oh yea she's working, wait till she hears about this. cleaned and bandaged the cut, went outside, it's now dark, and put the mower away. That was enough for one evening, I'll deal with putting it back together later.

Monday is almost here, and that is also my ambluance night.

At least it isn't a full moon

    Rent-A-Husband
Many months ago, Sharon ( Single woman, our neighbor, Wanda's friend of many many years, Nurse where Wanda now works ) asked me to do something, I believe it was pick up a riding mower from her Apartment house she owns and take it to her home, Have Truck Will Travel :-)

Anyway, somewhere along the way she stated "Why get married, when you have Alex "The Peruville Rent-A-Husband, for all your womanly needs"" ( her words not mine ) So the title has stuck ever since. Wanda handles all my "Rentals"

Today we went and picked up a Ditch Witch so her contractor could lay electric to her storage barn. I used it afterwards to dig a few drainage ditches, hopefully keeping the water out of the driveway. Then we went shopping at Lowes for garden tools, and building materials as I need to get the AC units into the house.

Just another day for the Rent-A-Husband

Damn I missed a DC Boink!!! Geeze, I must have been on the "B" list :-( Or was that the "If you don't read, you don't know " list??

Well I'd better get to bed, gotta got to go to work as the "Rent-A-Husband" in the morning ( Topic for another post :-) )

Face pressed to the Usenet window, but not for long
Fell off Usenet for a few weeks. Upon trying to catch up, I sent a little Valentine's post to s.s.m. that appears to have vanished into the ether. But it's not a modbot issue, as my test posts to other groups appear to be going into limbo as well (they say they're posting, then don't show up). So, I can read but not reply to stuff, which is too frustrating for me to continue for long, and I don't have the time to dink with whatever I would have to do (I assume it's some issue my ISP is having). My geek love is all going to the XO these days.

I.e., not asking for help, just mentioning in case anyone's wondering where I went wrt newsgroups.

Dance Flurry in Saratoga Springs Feb 15-17 2008
There are typically a sniggler or two who gather on Presidents' Day weekend for the Dance Flurry in Saratoga Springs, New York.  This year it's February 15 - 17.

One of the wonderful things about this festival is that there are many other kinds of things going on besides the dancing, so if you enjoy live music and music workshops, it's still a great festival. All the music is live.  When you see ethnic dance on the schedule, you can count on there being a band playing the dance music.  The workshops are great because you can see things like concertina players side by side playing the various folk musics that employ concertina - last year there were Cajun, English and Italian - it was very enlightening to hear the differences.

Saratoga Springs is also a great town for hanging out, shopping, and museums.

Festival volunteers get free admission in exchange for a few work shifts.

I know Elissa Ann is giving a workshop this year, and other years various snigglers have attended.  I'm going to be volunteering and would love to have it be a sniggler event on top of being a fabulous festival weekend.
